We love our volunteers! They provide valuable assistance and a meaningful contribution to the community through their participation in a wide range of our programs. MSS is committed to best practice in volunteer management, adhering to national standards at all times in our volunteering program.
Volunteer roles include:
- Supporting clients on day trips and outings
- Social shopping with clients
- Client companionship
- Working in the My Meals kitchen and delivering meals to clients
- Event support
- Office support
Who can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers of all ages, cultural backgrounds and areas of experience. Unless otherwise stated, the minimum age for volunteering is 18 years. Volunteer opportunities are advertised through various outlets and applicants are provided with detailed job descriptions. Suitability is determined through a formal interview process.
MSS carries out the following compulsory checks at no cost to the applicant:
- Reference Check
- National Police Check
- NSW Working With Children Check (for child-related volunteer positions only)
Successful applicants are provided with a Volunteer Induction Session and are supported by the MSS Volunteer Coordinator. Job-specific training will vary according to the role.
