MSS understands that raising a family can sometimes be difficult and some families require support from time to time. To assist in supporting families MSS can provide case management to families using a strengths based family centred framework. We can assist families with parenting, family violence issues, counselling, housing needs, advocacy with professional or government services and group work.
To be eligible for service you will need to have a child 17 years or younger.
MSS also runs two support groups for families. These are:
- Young Parents’ Supported Playgroup which is held every Tuesday of school terms. Young parents (under 25s) come together to meet others, and share their stories and challenges. They learn new skills and have fun interacting with their children.
- The Waiting Room – this is a group for parents aged under 21 years to come together while waiting for the birth of their baby. The group is run by family support workers from MSS. It is a great opportunity for expectant parents to meet other expecting parents, discuss any concerns and worries and share the joy of this special time within their lives.
