MSS is committed to keeping women, children and families safe. The safety and wellbeing of women, children and young people is important in our communities and we are striving to help keep all women, children and families safe. We offer programs and support to ensure children and young people grow up in families that can support their development, health and wellbeing needs.
Taking Responsibility is an 18 week group program for men who have used violent or controlling behaviours in their intimate relationships with women and would like to change this. The course gives an opportunity for men to discover and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours that either support or break down intimate relationships.
Topics which are covered in the program include:
- What it means to be a man
- The experience of change
- Effective communication
- Understanding and breaking from the effects of violence
- Understanding how your family of origin has affected you
- Maintaining change and changing your reputation
Participants must attend a pre-group information session and two one on one assessment interviews to ensure the group is right for them.
